AISI 4140 / ASTM 4140 / SAE 4140 Hot Rolled Cold Drawm QT Round Steel Bars
AISI 4140 alloy steel is chromium, molybdenum, manganese containing low alloy steel. It has high fatigue strength, abrasion and impact resistance, toughness, and torsional strength. 4140 steel is a Chromium-Molybdenum through-hardening steel of medium hardenability. It is a general purpose high-tensile steel with medium strength level and good impact properties.

3.Property of AISI 4140 Heat Treatment Steel (Property can be changed by changing QT tempreture )
4140 steel quenched and tempered properties:
Yield strength of 4140 steel: 930MPa min
Tensile strength of 4140 steel: 1080MPa min
Elongation of 4140 steel: 12% min
Reduction area of 4140 steel: 50% min
Rockwell hardness of 4140 steel: 32HRC min
Brinell hardness of annealed 4140 steel: 217HB max
4.Quality control of 4140 steel bar:
1. Melting Process: EAF+LF+VD
2. Both ends cut by saw
3. Ratio of forging:minimum 3:1
4. Grain size of final product: according to ASTM E112 more than 5,preferred more than 8
5. Ultrasonic test: As per SEP1921 Class C/c or D/d
5.Delivery condition:
1): Straightness: 3mm/m (max) for hot rolled and QT, 1mm/m for cold drawn and QT
2): The ends cut by saw
3): No cracks on the surface
Packing:
1): Paint oil on the surface to protect steel bars from rusting.
2): Bundle packing by Iron Strips.
3): Bundle weight is from 2mt to 3 mt.
4): Two or three tags will be attached on each bundle.
